Big Sur
First timers to Big Sur and we were not disappointed! This place is pure magic! Ryan and I took a drive down the Northern California coast on a quick weekend away. We started in Santa Cruz - after putting our feet in the sand, waiting in line for the BEST Penny’s ice cream with toasted marshmallow fluff, we headed south to Monterey. One of our favorite hobbies is dreaming of owning a house on the ocean, so oogling the mansions on the 17 mile drive was high on our bucket list. We also ate at a mexican restaurant in Carmel one night. It was late and we were starving, and all we wanted was to order room service to our hotel room. Instead, I forced Ryan out the door and we drove to this little tucked away, cozy mexican restaurant and had the greatest meal of our lives. We will be talking about that meal for years to come! I had chile rellenos - and I doubt I’ll ever have it anywhere again because nothing will come close to the heaven that this was. Ryan had carne asada, of course, and we shared churros for dessert. I am certain these are the most delicious churros in the world. They came with a side of caramel sauce and a grilled orange to squeeze into the caramel. I was so full, but still didn’t waste one bite of it. AH need to go back asap. I loved the coastal drive along Big Sur - listening to the Mamma Mia soundtrack and driving through the fog.
